Ashwell Biomass (formerly Engineering Services Limited) is a specialist in providing biomass boiler solutions for businesses, councils, housing trusts, schools, hospitals, farmers and landowners.

Ashwell was established in the UK in 1879 by Frank Ashwell and David Mein Nesbit originally as a coal boiler manufacturer. In the tradition of its founders, Ashwell Biomass identified the change in the market from coal fired systems to biomass fuelled systems and produced conversion kits for existing commercial and industrial coal fired boilers of up to 1.5 megawatts. This enabled new and existing clients to benefit from renewable energy - biomass fuels available providing improved efficiency in excess of 20% as well as low carbon emissions.

Based in Leicester, Ashwell Biomass is now one of the UK’s leading biomass boiler manufacturers and installers of biomass heating and hot water solutions, with over 200 installations in the UK. Boilers
Ashwell Biomass offers a complete range of biomass boilers (15kW to 10MW +), for the domestic, industrial and commercial markets:

D’Alessandro range – 20kW to 2MW
Ashwell Biomass are exclusive UK distributors of this comprehensive range of biomass boilers. The D’Alessandro boiler range is manufactured in Italy to ISO9001 quality standards and, are EN303/5 compliant. With boiler outputs ranging from 20kW to 2MW and versatility over a large range of fuel types, the D’Alessandro boilers are suitable for most applications

Komforts range – 500kW to 8MW
Ashwell Biomass are exclusive UK distributors and installers of the Komforts boiler range. Komforts provide a range of bespoke boilers and complete boiler house solutions to provide hot water, steam and CHP. The advanced systems are manufactured to order in Latvia to ISO9001 quality standards and are more suited for medium to largescale industrial and commercial solutions.

Ashwell GreenTec range – 50kW to 300kW.
The GreenTec wood pellet boiler range is manufactured in-house in Leicester. They are exempt appliances which allow use in Smoke Controlled Areas (under the Clean Air Act) and, being of modular design, offer an extremely versatile configuration of fuel feeds along with a much reduced footprint compared to the majority of biomass boilers.

Accessories
A wide range of accessories are also available to provide a one stop shop for a full installation.

Conversion kits
Ashwell also produces conversion kits for commercial and industrial coal fired boilers, enabling renewable biomass fuels to be introduced into any existing heating system, not just for new installations. The result is an improved efficiency in excess of 20% as well as lower carbon emissions.

• Installation / Design
  Ashwell Biomass offer a complete hydronic consulting design to ensure that the biomass boiler is appropriately sized and integrated into a new or existing heating system. The sizing and integration of the system is crucial to providing a good quality and efficient installation
• Full Engineering Facility
  As a long established manufacturer, Ashwell Biomass have in-house engineering skills and facilities to design and manufacture a comprehensive range of bespoke steel fabricated products, each tailor made to provide a best practice solution for our customers. Fuel bunkers and fuel feed systems to suit individual project requirements are readily available.
• Boiler House CAD Layouts
  A computer aided design (CAD) system is used to design a boiler-house layout offering optimum performance while giving consideration to future maintenance requirements of the boiler and associated equipment. Factors to incorporate are access for fuel delivery, sizing of the boiler to meet output required, sizing of the fuel storage to ensure efficient operation and design of the fuel feed system.
• Containerised Plant Rooms
  The Ashwell Biomass Bio Heat Cabin offers a complete cost effective biomass boiler house and fuel store solution ready to off "plug in and go."
  
  The Ashwell Biomass Bio Heat Cabins are complete boiler houses incorporating boilers, pumps, pipework, fuel stores and electrical connections. A full range of biomass boilers are offered in the Ashwell Bio Heat Cabin, each one bespoke to the customer’s requirements. Externally, a range of decorative wood or steel claddings in a comprehensive range of colours to blend into any situation are available.
  
  The Ashwell Biomass Bio Heat Cabin offers a cost effective biomass solution with shorter lead times and lower costs for planning. As only a concrete plinth is required, they are a low cost alternative to expensive permanent building costs.

• Service & Maintenance Contracts
  Ongoing preventative maintenance contracts to ensure that the efficiency of the system is maintained and reactive call out cover where needed. A range of contracts are available.

• Full B.M.S. Building Energy Management
  Integrated management systems are available on some of the Ashwell Biomass supplied boilers to ensure ease of monitoring of the heating system through a separate control panel. Each BMS is designed specific to the customer’s requirements. These can include a remote access facility to allow on line connection to the control panel to easily identify issues without physical attendance within the boiler room.
• Unrivalled After Sales Service & Technical Support
  Our experienced staff offer ongoing support to ensure client staff are trained to maximise the benefits of their heating system. Support is offered either by phone, email or attendance on site.
  
  We are approved after sales providers for D'Alessandro and Komforts boilers, with whom we have a UK exclusivity agreement.

Differentiation from our competitors

There are several key factors that differentiate Ashwell from its competitors:

• Ashwell is the only company in the UK to offer a complete solution of biomass heating systems including design and manufacture of its own fully automated boiler plant to meet the needs of buildings of all types and sizes.
  
  
• We have recently agreed an exclusivity deal with D’Alessandro to supply their boilers into the UK. D'Alessandro Termomeccanica has been producing biomass heating generators for 30 years, always taking care to design equipment backed up by technological research. Ashwell install, maintain and offer after sales service of these boilers for customers in the UK.
  
  
• We have recently agreed an exclusivity deal with Komforts to supply their boilers into the UK. Komforts has been in the biomass industry for over 20 years and is now a leading heat engineering equipment manufacturer in the Baltic States. Its services cover design, manufacture, install and service. Ashwell has partnered with Komforts to install, maintain and offer after sales service of these boilers for customers in the UK.
  
  
• Based in the UK, we pride ourselves on being able to respond quickly to customer requirements (including breakdown cover, spares, servicing and maintenance contracts). Foreign after-sales support is often slow and inefficient
